Readings.  Gospel: Luke 2:41-52

Synagogues, mosques, temples, churches are the primary buildings in any community because of their longevity and place in history, and as a seat for worship, a home in which to encounter God and nurture one's soul and spirit.  They are essential for faith and all should feel it's their spiritual home.  It's God's house, but it's also true to say it's our house, my house.

Archbishop Niederauer received a letter from a lady named Cecilia.  Her letter, in part, read as follows: "The reason I am writing to you is that I have no family.  I was adopted and the couple that adopted me .... left a box of pictures and moved away when I became ill.  Now I have no one....  Maybe my birth family would like to know what happened to me.  Could you find it in your heart to include this message in bulletins throughout the Archdiocese?  Teresa Louise, born 11/28/53 in San Francisco.  Write P.O. Box 127, Columbia, CA 95310."
