Readings. Gospel: Mark 12:38-44 Jesus did not count the amount of money that went into the coffer as the standard of giving. He saw that the widow who had given the least had in fact given the most. The amount that she put in the treasury wouldn't sustain anything for very long. Her amount was basically the cost of a sweet. Therefore most would ignore it as insignificant. What Jesus perceived was that her sacrifice as a widow was much bigger than any of the others combined who contributed to the treasury, and so he acknowledged the importance of her story.
"There are those who
give little of the much which they have, and there are those who
have little and give it all." Kahlil Gibran
